When you’re in school, your friends feel like they’ll stay forever. You fight over small things, laugh over silly jokes, and believe they’ll always be by your side. Those little fights also start giving you comfort. They feel like your new home.
Then comes college. At first, you feel like a stranger. But slowly, over three years, people turn into friends. They become your new safe space, your new comfort.
When you start working, things change again. The people you meet are nice, but most friendships stay on the surface. Conversations are about work, goals, and careers. Sharing your real feelings doesn’t come as easily anymore. Those silly conversations now turn into annual packages, success rates, EMI and loans. The perspective of life shifts and then you realise it’s just YOU against the world.
But through all these phases, one thing never leaves you: your journal. It never interrupts. It never judges. It quietly listens to whatever you pour out — your happiness, anger, anxiety, worries, or even your dreams that never fulfilled. All this while it is your journal that doesn’t betray you nor does it spill your secrets.
Writing gives your emotions a place to live. Your journal doesn’t ask for explanations for your actions. It just lets you be you- unfiltered, real and authentic. And in a world that’s always busy, that’s rare and precious.
You don’t need to be afraid anymore to share your secrets, failures or even your success because your journal’s got your back.Your journal is the proof that sometimes, the best friend you’ll ever have is a blank page waiting to hear your story.
It might seem very intimidating and difficult to start with- because all you see is blank pages. Here are some tips for you to follow:
TIP 1- Choose a space for you
It could be your favourite corner of the house or your bed or your favourite couch- whatever makes you comfortable and at ease. Choose a corner that’s silent- because you wouldn't want any distractions when you're feeling your emotions.
TIP 2-Focus on facts and emotions
Write what happened, how it made you feel, when you combine emotions with events, it gives you a better understanding of your mental state. Don’t worry about the grammar and where you missed ‘the’ and ‘a’ , just focus on expressing what you felt
TIP 3 - Be honest
Nobody’s reading it , it’s just for you so be honest and real. Make it unfiltered and personal- not polished or perfect.
TIP 4- Always date your events
Putting a date on your entries makes it easy for you to reflect back and see your growth - or just look back and see how your perspective has changed.
So the next time life feels too heavy, just open a page. Write. Let it carry the weight for you — because you deserve to be heard.
